Melissa Rycroft is breaking her silence following her second arrest for DWI over the weekend.
The 43-year-old former The Bachelor contestant was arrested and charged on three counts on Sunday (November 1), for “driving while intoxicated, driving while license was invalid with a prior conviction or suspension without financial responsibility, and collision causing damage to a vehicle under $200.”
The next day, the authorities revealed that she struck an ambulance at a stop sign and drove away.
On Tuesday (November 3), Melissa shared a statement on Instagram, noting her shame and embarrassment, and adding that she’s “been struggling with mental health for quite some time.”

“First, please know how deeply ashamed and embarrassed I am, especially knowing how much this has affected my friends and family,” she started her statement.
“I want to share something personal, and to be honest, I am very ashamed to share it, but I can’t hide it anymore. I’ve been struggling with my mental health for quite some time now. It has completely overwhelmed me,” she continued. “I’ve tried to hide what I’ve been going through by putting on a smile, but behind the scenes, things have been much harder than anyone realized or that I have let on, even to my family.”
“No excuses at all, but I’m finally admitting that I need help. I’ve fought this for a long time on my own, and it’s time to admit that I can’t do it anymore. I’m getting professional care. This is so hard to say and the shame is still very much there, but I’m ready to feel like myself again, for me and for my family. They have stood by me through all of this, and they deserve honesty. They deserve me at my best. That’s what I’m working toward for all of us.”
She concluded by saying, “Please have some grace with me, if you have it in your heart, as I focus on trying to get healthy, and please respect my family’s privacy as they navigate this with me, too.”
Melissa‘s arrest this week comes just over a year after she was last arrested for DWI.
Just a few months ago, she plead guilty to that arrest and was sentenced to 20 months probation, instead of jail time, and was ordered to pay $2,000 in fines and court fees, and she was ordered to complete 36 hours of community service.
In addition, Melissa was only allowed to drive if her vehicle was equipped with a camera-enabled ignition interlock device.”
The former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader also agreed to commit no offense and “abstain from illegal use, possession, or sale of controlled substances, marijuana or cannabinoids,” following her DWI. She can’t “consume or possess any alcoholic beverages” in agreement with the deal.
