Jenna Dewan is getting a new professional dance partner on this week’s Dancing with the Stars.
The Rookie star will be paired with Alan Bersten for the upcoming episode after her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, was suspended for one week, Entertainment Weekly confirms.
DWTS producer BBC Studios announced that Val would not appear on the show this week’s show after he made a controversial social media comment about judge Carrie Ann Inaba.
Kim Kardashian reveals why she is still “traumatized” by her time on Dancing with the Stars over 18 years later.
Val has since apologized for the comment on Instagram and issued a statement following his suspension. He said he had been trying to defend his wife, fellow pro dancer Jenna Johnson, after Carrie Ann‘s comments during last week’s judging.
Carrie Ann and Jenna had a tense exchange during “Super Bowl Night” after the judge called out Jenna and her partner, Harry Shum Jr., over an alleged “lift” in their samba routine. Carrie Ann then read Jenna the definition of a lift.
In response, Val wrote, “You almost saw Fresh Prince enter the ballroom last night,” in a since-deleted TikTok status update obtained by Page Six. His comment appeared to reference the infamous 2022 Oscars, when Will Smith walked onstage and slapped host Chris Rock.
