The trailer for Julia Garner‘s new Netflix limited series has been released!
On Thursday (October 8), the streaming service debuted the first trailer for the upcoming 8-episode limited series The Altruists, based on a true story, starring 32-year-old Emmy-winning actress along with Anthony Boyle, Hudson Williams, Matt Rife, and more.
What is The Altruists about?
Here’s the logline:
The story of Sam Bankman-Fried (Boyle) and Caroline Ellison (Garner), two hyper-smart, ambitious young idealists who tried to remake the global financial system in the blink of an eye – before they were accused of stealing $8 billion and became Gen Z’s own Bonnie & Clyde.
The series is inspired by New York Magazine articles written by Kevin T. Dugan and Jen Wieczner.
While speaking with Tudum, the show’s creator, writer, co-showrunner, and executive producer Graham Moore shared his thoughts on the real-life Sam Bankman-Fried and Caroline Ellison.
“I genuinely believe that both Sam and Caroline were deeply committed altruists from day one, who set out to do as much good for as many people as they could in their lives,” Graham shared. “Over the course of the years that our show depicts, Sam and Caroline, with the very best of intentions, talked each other and themselves into committing a number of terrible crimes.”
Who stars in The Altruists?
The show also stars Alex Lawther, Karan Soni, Naomi Okada, Madison Hu, and Eugene Young.
Additional cast members include Paul Reiser, Robin Weigert, Maddie Hasson, Marianna Phung, Jennifer Grey, Terry Chen, William Mapother, Jack Greenlees, Elizabeth Adams, Hannah Galway, Donald Heng, David James Lewis, and Jasmine Lukuku.
When will The Altruists be released?
All eight episodes of The Altruists will be released on Netflix on November 19.
