Camila Mendes will return for a sequel to her romantic comedy Upgraded.
The 32-year-old Riverdale alum is set to reprise her role in Upgraded 2, with production beginning this month in Italy, The Hollywood Reporter reports. Camila will also produce the sequel.
There are no plot details to share just yet, but the movie will be written by Luke Roberts and Justin Matthews, who also penned the first film.
Becca Gleason will direct the follow-up, with Honor Role and Gulfstream Pictures producing it. Like the original, Upgraded 2 will be available to watch globally on Prime Video. Amazon MGM has not announced a release date for the sequel.
The first Upgraded premiered on Prime Video in 2024. Camila starred as Ana, an art auction house intern whose work trip to London takes a turn when she’s upgraded to first class.
William, played by Archie Renaux, mistakes her for her demanding boss, Claire (Marisa Tomei), and Ana plays along as the two grow closer. The film currently holds a Certified Fresh 76% score on Rotten Tomatoes from 51 reviews.
Camila also appeared as Teela in Amazon MGM Studios’ Masters of the Universe and starred in the 2024 Prime Video movie Música.
